WHO WE ARE

Turnpike Wesleyan Church

OUR MISSION

Turnpike Wesleyan Church exists to honor God by making more disciples for Jesus Christ. We endeavor to do this by connecting through worship, growing through Life Groups and serving in community and ministry projects.

OUR VISION

To provide a place where one can experience Hope for tomorrow, Healing from yesterday and a Home for today!

OUR PURPOSE

Worship

Worship should help you sense God’s nearness and allow you to express yourself to Him. Therefore, we offer worship services that are relevant, practical and life changing. Our music is inspirational and the messages deal with the timeless truths of God’s Word. Worship is not something to watch in our church, but instead, it is something to participate in! Fellowship

We provide a family atmosphere that includes children, singles, seniors and men & women who are looking for a sense of belonging. We invite you to enjoy deep, caring fellowship with others who are set on discovering God’s best for their lives.  If you are looking for an active children's program, you may read about our Children's Worship center here.

Evangelism

Because God so loved the world; He gave her His best by giving Himself! Faith in Jesus Christ motivates us to imitate that depth and quality of love. He has placed a well of compassion in our hearts for hurting people everywhere. He is our motivation for sharing His redeeming love and amazing grace whether it be around the world or across the street.

Service

We believe that God’s love provides wonderful possibilities for us to grow in faith and to discover how He can use our abilities to strengthen His church. We show people how Christ can set them free from past guilt and negative, controlling habits, thus making them a powerful servant for the kingdom. We encourage each other to “let their light so shine” so that those around may see faith in action.

Discipleship

We believe that the Bible is God’s infallible Word and the only adequate answer for problems in our homes, community and world. It is the final authority for our faith and our actions. We teach its truth and wisdom in our Life Groups (small groups). Our pastors' messages are based on the Bible and will help you see how God’s plan relates to every area of your life. To learn more about our Life Groups that meet throughout the week, click here.

OUR DENOMINATION

The Wesleyan Church is a Protestant, evangelical, holiness denomination with a rich heritage.

We have seen it as our special mission to emphasize the message of "full salvation from all sin." We teach that a victorious Christian life is possible for all believers through the experience of both forgiveness of sins and the filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Where We Came From: The name "Wesleyan" is in honor of John Wesley, a priest in the Church of England who was the inspiration and founder of the Methodist movement. It was their disciplined routine (or method) of spiritual devotion that earned Wesley and a few of his friends in ministry the nickname "Methodists" beginning in 1735. The name stuck later to the unique new organizational structure Wesley designed to provide prayer and spiritual care for tens of thousands of converts who found Christ through their work.

Wesley was an outstanding Oxford scholar, yet regarded himself as "a man of one book," the Bible. It was while studying the Bible that he received assurance of his own salvation through faith. It was the Bible which motivated his vision for offering Christ to the common people of England in a way that led to that nation's greatest spiritual revival. It was biblical truth that inspired Wesley to develop a school for orphans, job programs and medical assistance for the poor, efforts to reform inhumane prisons, and arguments for the abolition of slavery, a great evil of his time.
